1. Why did you want to become an ophthalmologist?
— I would want to become an ophthalmologist in order to engage in medical and surgical management regarding the eye. Moreover, I would be granted with the opportunity and privilege to explore in the field of research concerning eye care. Our eyes are unique organs which allows our efficient daily performances. Certainly, an ophthalmologist has an important duty in maintaining the highest possible quality of vision to promote the quality of life.

2. What do you think are the qualities to be an effective ophthalmologist?
— When people talk about an ‘eye doctor’, one would expect him/her to be someone skillful in both medical and surgical management regarding the eye. Indeed, as an ophthalmologist, our duty is to maximize the interests of our patients by increasing the benefit of each of our management options while minimizing the risks to the lowest possible. An ophthalmologist should always respect their limits and always be ready to absorb more knowledge from fellow ophthalmologists and through researches to be more efficient.

3. What does Healthy Eye mean to you?
— A healthy eye is not limited to an eye without prior surgeries or a ‘young eye’. It is an eye with the ability to allow one to perform their daily tasks. It should be an eye with good vision, pain-free, and without certain risks of developing complicating disease such as ocular surface disease, glaucoma, or retinopathy.

4. For your own opinion, what are the requirements for your junior ophthalmologist?
— As an ophthalmologist in training, talents and skills could be developed with time. What should be kept in mind throughout the career is the attitude, commitment toward the field of specialization, and the desire to adopting any new knowledge regardless of how small the source of knowledge would be.

5. Please send a message to people who wanted to start getting eye care right now.
— Regular eye check-up is essential for maintaining a healthy eye. It is better to diagnose a normal eye rather than an eye which is too late for further management. Early detection in certain eye diseases allows both patient and physician to formulate a good plan to deal with the problems.
